Salvador, the first Capital of Brazil.

Yesterday we not at school. There was no class because it was a holiday. We visited beautiful places in Salvador. Salvador was the first capital of Brazil. It was founded in 1549. There are beautiful and historic places in this city. In the Historical Center of the city is the Pelourinho. It was declared World Heritage site by UNESCO. Pelourinho was an area where he slaves were Punished. At Barra beach here is he famous Lighthouse. It was built some years after he discovery of Brazil to guide the ships o enter in the bay area. The churches in Salvador are very numerous and beautiful. He S. Francisco church was built in 1702, and it has paintings in gold. The most famous church is he Church of Bomfim. It was built on a hill and was decorated wih Portuguese tiles in 1772. There is also the Lacerda Elevator. It was built To connect the upper city and he Lower city of Salvador. There are beautiful beaches in Salvador, too. He tourists love to visit them and bathe in the warm waters. Famous writers and singers from Bahia always talk about he beauties of Salvador. Jorge Amado was a famous writer from Bahia. In many of his novels the stories happen in Salvador. Dorival Caymmi, a famous singer, also mentions Salvador in his songs.
